Offered his first contract aged 20, a European operatic debut at 23, then called to Covent Garden at 24 and finally, a US debut at the tender age of 25, Jeffrey Black set the stage alight enviably early.
He has performed many of the prima cavalier lyric baritone roles in the major Opera Houses of the world; The Metropolitan – New York, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden – London, Glyndebourne, Bastille – Paris, Bayerrische Staatsoper – Munich, Sydney Opera House – Australia, Chicago Lyric – Chicago and the Salzburg Festival. His calling card roles became Figaro, (Barber of Seville), Count Almaviva (Marriage of Figaro) Don Giovanni and more latterly moving into the heavier Verdi/ Puccini repertoire.
